Meenambal was born in Trippunithura, Ernakulam Dist. Kerala, in 1946, as the daughter of Sri. K.N.Subrahmanya Sastry and Sint Meenakshy Ammal. She holds M.A. & Ph.D. Degrees in Sanskrit Vyakarana. She has a remarkable teaching career spanning over a period of 33 years in various capacities of Professor, Research Guide, H.O.D/Vyakarana and Member of the Board Of Studies & Accademic Council in Govt. Sanskrit Colleges at Tripunithura and Thiruvananthapuram, in Kerala. She has authored three works on Sanskrit Vyakarana written in three different languages. They are (1.) Nagesa and the Mahabhasya (in English), published in 1991 by Sri Satguru Publications, a division of Indian Book Centre, Delhi, India, (2) Kaumudisobha (in Malayalam) published in 2019 by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, Kerala and (3) Bhusanasarasobha (the present one in Sanskrit). Also she is the author of a lyric in Sanskrit, viz. Galitakusumam composed in the Vasanthatilaka metre.
